The First International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Data Science (ISDS 2023)
Can Tho city is the center of the Mekong Delta (MD) in Vietnam which has a natural area of about 4 million hectares and over 18.4 million people. This is a rich land with beautiful scenery including colorful fruit trees all year round. Can Tho University (CTU), an important state higher education institution in the MD, is the cultural, scientific, and technical center of the MD and Vietnam. Since its founding in 1966, CTU has been improving and developing itself. It has an enrollment of about 54.000 undergraduate students; 3.000 students have been following Master's programs, and around 300 students are Ph.D. candidates. CTU has got over 2.000 staff members including nearly 1.200 teaching staff and 800 supporting staff. From a university with a few fields of study at the beginning, it has developed into a multidisciplinary university. Currently, it has nearly 100 undergraduates, 36 Master's, and 15 Doctoral training programs. Every year CTU receives students in internship programs from the U.S, Belgium, Japan, and so on, or under agreements between their universities and CTU. CTU’s main missions are training, conducting scientific research, and transferring technology to serve regional and national socio-economic development. In addition to its training responsibilities, CTU has actively taken part in scientific research projects, applying for the advances in scientific and technological knowledge to solve problems related to science, technology, economics, culture, and society in the region. From achievements in its scientific research and international cooperation projects, the university has developed a variety of products and technological production processes that benefit people’s lives and promote export, thus helping the CTU gain prestige in national and international markets.
The College of Information and Communication Technology (CICT) of CTU was established in 1994. It is one of the seven key faculties in the field of Information Technology in Vietnam and has observed substantial upgrading and development. In 2019, the CICT received the Third-Class Labor Medal from the President. Training, scientific research, and technology transfer in the field of ICT are the committed missions of the CICT. As for a vision towards 2025, the Faculty is to become a well-recognized training and scientific research center in the field of ICT both in Vietnam and in the Southeast Asian Region. Recognizing the importance of human needs in the field of IT and its development potential, particularly in the global trend in the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, the CICT has emphasized the improvement and upgrading of human resources, training activities, scientific research, international cooperation and facilities in terms of quality and scale. The CICT currently has about 100 staff members. All of the lecturers have obtained postgraduate degrees, 40% of whom hold a doctoral degree. The lecturers, who are mostly trained at prestigious foreign institutions, are highly enthusiastic, dynamic, and creative in teaching and scientific research. The CICT currently has 6 undergraduate, 3 master, and 1 doctoral training programs, with about 4,500 students. Moreover, the CICT has strengthened both specialized and interdisciplinary research (such as machine learning, AI, big data, remote sensing images,..) to reflect the global trend and demand in scientific research. Accordingly, many research projects have been carried out or are in progress with funding obtained from many different bodies and organizations. Promoting mutual strengths in training and scientific research, the CICT has engaged in collaboration agreements with many domestic and foreign partners.
In fact, with the potential of the CICT, holding an international conference in ICT to support researchers and students in the Mekong Delta region is very feasible and necessary. Today, all the systems and applications become more and more intelligent. In those systems, data and information become larger and richer date by date. Thus, AI and Data Science are contemporary topics for associating with intelligent systems. The objective of the International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Data Science (ISDS 2023) is to attract domestic and foreign researchers to CTU to participate and present outstanding and recent research in the field of ICT. This is an opportunity for scientists to meet, exchange, and cooperate. The ISDS 2023 is also a place for students to report and learn new results in the field of ICT. This ISDS conference looks at state-of-the-art and original research issues (in the topics of intelligent systems and data science).
