VISA

Entry Visa

Currently, the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs grants visa waivers/exemptions to more than 60 countries (https://www.boca.gov.tw/cp-149-4486-7785a-2.html). If you are not sure whether you need a short-term visa to enter Taiwan in order to attend this conference, please visit the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website (https://www.boca.gov.tw/mp-2.html).

If your country is not on the visa exemption list, you should contact the Embassy of Taiwan, or the nearest Consulate of Taiwan in your home country, to obtain guidance on the application process and necessary documents. For more information, please visit the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website.

As part of the visa application process, you may be required to submit a Letter of Invitation from the ISDS Organizing Committee.

Letters of Invitation

A Letter of Invitation is an official document that confirms payment of registration fees and extends an official invitation to the paid registrant for attending ISDS. That is, it gives the holder an official reason to visit Taiwan. It may be required by your university for administrative purposes, and will likely be one of the documents required for visa application if you are from a country not on the visa exemption list. Note that ISDS is not authorized to assist with the visa process beyond providing a Letter of Invitation.
